Recipe from my mam

8 ozs Self raising flour
4 ozs butter
4ozs caster sugar
1 egg
4oz full currants or sultanas
1/4 tsp salt

Rub fat into flour
Mix dry ingredients and mix into a soft dough with the egg.
Roll till 4 inches wide and cut 2 inch discs
Cook on a greased griddle over a slow flame until golden on both sides
